Review: Champagne Lights Candle

I’ve reviewed several massage candles, but I have never reviewed just a plain candle.  You always see in movies people having sex by candle-light, so I thought the Champagne Lights Candle from FunWares could be a fun bedroom accessory.

The Run Down:

  • Toy Type:  Misc – Bedroom enhancer
  • Manufacturer:  Kingman Industries
  • Price:  $7.95
  • Pros:  Decent jar; Made from wax beads – neat; Good smell
  • Cons:  Bad grammar on the jar; Don’t notice the “pheromones”; Doesn’t smell like “rain”
  • Overall Rating: 3.5/5
  • Recommended: Yes

The jar

The Champagne Lights Candle comes in a small jar with a metal twist off lid.  The front of the jar does say “Champagne Lights scented candle with pheromones” so it’s not the most discreet, but most people probably won’t read your candle jars that closely.  The back has standard warning info about candles.  It also says:

For that little added glow of romance, relax and bathe to Champagne Lights Candle scent will naturally freshen room when melting.

The grammar on that is a bit weird, but I’m guessing they mean that the candle will freshen the room while burning and help you relax.  I have no really strong objections to the container.

Showing the small wax beads

The candle itself is fairly unique, to me at least, but I’m not a huge candle person.  When you get the candle, it’s actually not a solid wax structure.  The jar is filled with tiny colored wax beads.  You’ll want to be very careful when you first get it to make sure not to spill it when you open it.  You may also want to adjust the wick and make sure it’s centered okay, it may shift during shipping.  The beads do not change it as a candle though, just light the wick and let it burn.  It burns well and it does leave a bit of a coat around the jar which ends up looking neat with the light flickering through it.  I do want to point out that the warning says to not burn it for more than 3-4 hours.  Also, this is not a massage candle.  The ingredients are not listed but I’m sure it’s made from beeswax and melts at a much higher temperature, so please do not try to use it for a massage.  I wouldn’t suggest using it for wax play either because you do not know what is used to scent and color the wax.

Now, the scent I received is called Rain.  I don’t really find it smells like rain, but it’s still a pleasant smell.  It smells a bit flowery with maybe a small water/rain scent, but it’s fairly hard to describe.  It’s a decently strong scent, strong enough if you leave the lid off you can smell it when you walk by.  When you burn it, it does waft through the immediate area, but I didn’t find that the scent filled up the room.  Another thing, it lists having pheromones in it.  I didn’t, nor did a male partner, really notice anything seductive or arousal increasing about this candle.

Overall, I think the Champagne Lights Candle is a nice little candle.  It’s neat with it’s little beads and it.  The scent is nice and it’s fairly inexpensive.  It’s available in four scents:  Rain, Midnight Romance, French Vanilla, and Apple Cinnamon.
