Calypso in the box

The Calypso comes in a small plastic box.  I’m not a fan of these types of boxes because they tend to be very flimsy and crack and bust.   The back of my box is pretty much split all the way across.  It does not make for good storage.  It’s also not the most discreet box as it says “Sexual Satisfaction Right at Your Fingertips!” on the front well as calling it a Foreplay Arouser.  I’d definitely say toss the box and store it in a soft bag of its own.

The Calypso

This toy is mostly made out of ABS Plastic with Velvet-Cote, which makes it soft to the touch.  The head of the toy is covered with a silicone pad with ‘pleasure nubs’.  It can be a little difficult to clean because you have to make sure you get between all the pleasure nubs.  It does not say that it is water-proof, so I would not submerge it for play or cleaning.  Also, since it’s mostly plastic it can’t be fully sterilized.

This toy is intended for external use only, particularly to stimulate the clit and other sensitive areas.  It does have a curved handle and fits well in your hand.  You’re supposed to use the side with the pleasure nubs for stimulation but you can also use the back part of the head if you prefer as smooth texture.  As far as the vibration the Calypso has 7 functions that you cycle through with the push button.  Most of these are very complex patters so it’s hard for me to describe them.  It’s a decently strong vibration that’s a little on the buzzy side.  The toy turns off by pushing and holding the button.  I also found it to be a little on the loud side.  It

Battery compartment

Now, here’s why I really did not like the toy.  The battery compartment is very difficult to get open.  Aside from that it took me a while to figure out what size batteries the toy uses.  It is not clear in the battery instructors or on an obvious place on the box and they also weren’t included.  Judging by the size, I thought it would take two AA’s but when I tried them they did not fit, so I tried 2 AAAs but the toy did not turn on.  So I looked it up and found out that it does take 2 AA, but you have to force them in.  You shouldn’t have to force batteries into something, it can be very dangerous.  It actually left lines on my battery casing from where it was in the toy.

Overall, I do not like this toy and can’t recommend it to anyone.  The vibrations are okay, but the battery situation alone bothers me a lot.  I also found the head was too wide and too strong to really enjoy it against my clit.  This toy may work well as a muscle massager, but in my opinion it’s just not worth it.
