Review: Je Joue Ami

I was excited to get the Je Joue Ami to review from PinkCherry.com because one – I love Je Joue (and now have every toy they make) and two – I love kegel exercisers.

Sitting in the box

The Je Joue Ami comes in the same type of packaging that all my other Je Joue products have come in.  The thin outer box has the Je Joue logo on the front and the sides show cartoon images of the Ami set.  The back of the box has some details about the set itself in five different languages.  The inner box is a very heavy black box with ribbon ties.  There are no images or anything naughty on this box.  When you open up the lid, all three of your Ami’s are setting in a plastic insert.  There’s a little lip that labels each one so you know which is which.  However, if you don’t wish to keep the box, they’re pretty easy to tell apart and the instruction manual explains which one is which as well.  The instruction booklet is also in five different languages.  The booklet explains some reasons and benefits to using a kegel exerciser as well as what your PC muscles and kegel exercises are.  It also has detailed ways to use Ami and includes two different exercises to perform with them.

In my hand

The thing that attracted me most to the Je Joue Ami is that it is actually a set of three different exercisers.  Most other similar products just come in one size.  The Ami allows you to start off with a light single ball with an easy to grip diameter.  Once Ami 1 isn’t challenging to use anymore you can step up to Ami 2 and then 3.  Each one gets heavier and smaller in diameter than the one before it.  It really is an exerciser plan for your kegels.

Showing the flexibility

All three Amis are made from 100% premium silicone and ABS Plastic.  There is a small end cap on each Ami that is plastic but the rest is silicone.  I love the feel of Je Joue silicone.  It’s soft and velevty and doesn’t attract link.  However, I would recommend (as does the user manual) that you use only a water-based lube with them.  I find that I only need a small amount to insert them.  The more you use, the more difficult they become to insert as well as hold on to once they’re inserted.  Each Ami also has a silicone strap to allow for easy removal.  The Amis are fairly easy to clean.  You can wash them with soap and water or toy cleaner.  The only thing I would suggest is to pay close attention to the seam between the silicone and plastic cap as well as where the removal strap is attached  You can also bleach them or boil them, but the manual recommends boiling them for no more than 20 seconds.

Size comparasion to K-Balls and Emigi

The silicone on the Ami is also very squishy which is great for the two longer Amis.  The first kegel exerciser I tried was the Ophoria K-Balls and while it is also silicone, it is very stiff and has very little flex to the middle between the two balls.  The Ami 2 and 3 both have two balls but the mid-section is super flexible.  My vaginal canal is rather short, especially when I’m sitting, so other exercisers that aren’t flexible I’ve found to be very uncomfortable and occasionally painful.  I haven’t had this problem at all with any of the Amis as long as I can insert them fully.  If I can’t get it inserted high enough it can feel a little weird and akward, so I prefer the Ami 1 over the others since it is a single ball design.

A few things I noticed about the Ami set is that when inserted they seem to really press on my g-spot which is quite enjoyable.  It’s not something I’ve really noticed with other similar products.  It also makes me feel a bit awkward to wear them out in public.  I have a few times, I’m just not very daring usually.  Plus I’m usually running late so I tend to skip on taking extra time to insert one.  Also, it doesn’t say that the Ami 3 does not have the inner balls that jiggle around with movement, but I really cannot feel them, even when I hold it in my hand and shake it.

Overall, I really like the Je Joue Ami set.  It gives you lots of options on how to excersie your kegels for whatever reason you want.  I think they’re very easy to use, plus well, they ARE purple a ya know.  The pictures make them look a little more blue than they really are.  Unfortuately for anyone who hates purple though, this is the only color they come in.  Plus at PinkCherry.com they are only $39.99 right now and considering you get three excersiers, I think it’s a very affordable and great price.
