Review: Jopen Vanity Vr3

The Jopen Vanity Line is the newest line of toys from California Exotic Novelties.  I know a lot of my fellow reviewers are not found of CAE, however, I haven’t really had an issue with any of their products.  Did that mean I wasn’t excited about getting to try one of the new Jopen toys?  Nope!  When Babeland offered up any of the Jopen toys I excited requested the Vr3 to review.

The packaging

If you’ve already read any reviews of the Jopen line you’ve probably heard lots of complaints about the packaging.  With most “luxury” toys you get very nice packaging, typically something that you can store the toy in and whatnot.  The Jopen line come in a small cardboard box with the product name on the front and sides.  It is fairly discreet, it doesn’t say anything about what’s inside, other than what it’s called.  If I didn’t know what a Vr3 was, I would thing it was some sort of car part.  The bottom does have a picture of the toy on it as well as a list of all of it’s features.  When you open up the box, the toy is resting in a cardboard insert.  If you pull out the insert you’ll find the charger, instruction booklet, and a little slip that lists ALL the features.  The instructions are pretty basic.  Now, the packaging does leave a lot to be desired, BUT it is much better than the packaging that comes with most other CAE toys.  I’m not going to say it’s great, but hey, at least it’s a small step in the right direction.

The toy, storage bag, and charger (click through for an amusing picture)

While the box isn’t great, they did include a comicly large storage bag.  Like seriously, the bag is the size of a sheet of paper (11″ x 8.5″).  It’s big enough to be used as a backpack for a small child (please don’t, it does say JOPEN on it).  Aside from it being absurdly large it is a nice bag and is very soft.  You can fit the Vr3, the charger, and the rest of your collection in it!  Just kidding… maybe only half of your collection.  Oh, be sure to click through the picture to see something funny.

The Vr3

Now onto the toy itself!  First of all it’s purple.  Some people have been calling it fuchsia, but I think fuchsia is more pink than this is.  Either way, it’s a VERY bright purple and I love it.  If you hate extraordinarily bright purples, you will hate this.  The Vr3 is about 6″ long with only 3.5″ being insert-able.  The clit arm is about 1.75″ long.  It also has a good bit of girth to the middle of the insert-able portion being 1.5″ at the widest.  However, I didn’t have a problem inserting it because it does taper nicely.   The shape overall is nice, but the second time I used it, it was a bit painful.  I couldn’t figure out why.   I also found the handle fits nicely in your hand.

The Jopen line are marketed as to being silicone, so I got out my lighter to check.  Sure enough it passed!  The silicone is a very soft matte and it does have a slight seem but I didn’t notice any discomfort or anything from it.  The only thing I didn’t like is it is a bit of a lint magnet.  Since it is silicone, I recommend using only water-based lubes with it.  Also, it’s very easy to clean since it is water-proof, just clean with soap and water, toy cleaner, or bleach it.

Showing the flexiblity

The clit arm also worked well for me and was fairly flexible.  The only issue I had was with the strength of the vibrations in the arm.  Yes, I’m actually complaining that something isn’t strong enough.  Shocking, huh?  The vibrations for the clit arm are nothing to get excited over.  On low, they’re hard to feel at all and on high they are rather buzzy.  The good thing though is that this part is VERY quiet.  However, the vibrations for the body are amazing.  Even on high they are very deep, though this is much too strong for me.   This part is much louder than the clit arm, but it’s still not overly loud.

My least favorite thing about this toy are the controls.  The controls are annoying and frustrate me so.  There are only two buttons.  The bottom one turns on the clit arm and the top turns on the body.  To turn on the vibrations you push the button but to turn the vibrations up you have to push and hold the button.  To turn it of you push the button again.  This makes it very difficult to turn the speed up gradually as it tends to just turn off.  I think this would had worked much better if you click through the vibration settings or have two buttons to control each portion.  You can lock the controls by holding both buttons for a few seconds, which is nice.  Aside from that, it is rechargeable.    The LED in the bottom button will glow red while it’s charging and turns white when it’s finished.  The charger just pushes through a small hole in the base of the toy, but water won’t get in unless you shoot it in with a needle (if you’re curious as to why water won’t get in, let me know and I can go into more detail.

Overall, I think the Jopen Vr3 is a decent toy.  For the price though, there are some things I think could use some improvements, such as better vibrations in the arm and a nicer box, but it is a very nice step in the right direction for CAE.   Since I’m not a huge fan of rabbits in general I think I would prefer one of the non-rabbit styles better.
