Review: Jopen Vr1

The Jopen line isn’t as hot of a topic as it was a few months ago, but recently Jopen was kind enough to send me the Vr1 to review.  I’ve previously reviewed the Vr3 and Vr8 so I was really interested to see how the kegel style balls worked.

The package

The package for the Vr1 is exactly the same as the Vr3 and Vr8.  I really don’t know what else to say about it so you can go check out those reviews here and here.  It’s decently discreet, except the back which  shows the toy and lists all the features.  It’s also fairly cheap considering the price of the toy.  It’s just cardboard but it does come with a huge (much larger than it needs to be) storage bag.  Most people could fit their entire sex toy collection in this bag.  Considering the Vr1 is probably the smalles of the Jopen line, it’s exceptionally ridiculous.  It also comes with a little manual but it is also the same as all the other toys.  One manual list all the toys, so you really only need one.

The Vr1 is about 6.5″ in total length, with 3″ being the thin retrieval cord.  It consists of two main components, the retrival cord and the body. The body is about 3.5″ in length and has two bulbs.  The  smaller bulb is just over 1″ in diameter and is circular.  The larger bulb is more oval and is 1.75″ in length and 1.25″ in diameter.  The bulbs are firm, but they are connected by flexible neck.  It’s flexible enough to fold over and touch the other bulb.  The entire toy is covered in silicone and has a very slight seam.  I can barely feel it with my fingers and cannot feel it when inserted.  There are a few symbols on the toy and the PowerBullet logo, but those can not be felt when inserted either.  The only think I found is that you need to be careful when cleaning it to scrub where the symbols and seam are.  I would also suggest only using a water-based lube with it.

The Vr1 in my hand

The Vr1 has two modes, a pleasure mode and an exercise mode.  To enter either mode, you first have to unlock the toy.  If the toy is unlocked, it is automatically in the exercise mode.  To either lock or unlock the Vr1 you plus and hold the lock button on the side for five seconds.  The LED will flash and it will do a quick plus of a vibration to let you know that it has been either locked or unlocked.  If it is unlocked, the LED will flash softly and slowly.  To get the Vr1 to vibrate in the exercise mode, you have to squeeze it hard enough.  There is a pressure sensitive panel on one side of the large bulb.  The harder you squeeze, the strong the vibrations will be.  This is intended for the toy to be inserted and squeeze the toy with your kegel muscles.  This can be used to train your muscles to become stronger and stronger to be able to increase the vibration level.  I found it impossible to squeeze in the right spot or hard enough to get any vibrations.  I think it will take a lot of practice to get it to vibrate with just my kegels and it makes this a more advanced kegel exerciser.

The pleasure mode is activated by squeezing the pressure button until it reaches the vibration strength you desire and then press the lock button.  This will lock the vibration at that speed and you can insert it for internal vibration.  The vibrations are all focused in the smaller bulb and are a medium strength slightly buzzy vibration.  They are decent vibrations, but internal vibrations do very little for me.  I primarily wanted it for the exercise mode.  The vibrations are not overly loud, but since this is intended to be inserted, it is muffled quite a lot.

One thing I did notice is that the battery life seems to be very short, especially if you leave it unlocked.  Plus if you leave it unlocked it can start vibrating if the pressure button is hit just right.  Luckily it is rechargeable, but it sucks to have to wait on it to charge when you want to use it.  The charge plugs into the bottom of the Vr1, between the two spots where the retrieval cord connects to the body.  When charging, the LED on the end of the toy glows red and will turn off when it has finished.

Overall, I think the Jopen Vr1 is a neat concept.  However, it didn’t work quite as well as I had hoped.  I think I will give it a few more attempts, maybe my muscles just aren’t as strong as I thought they were.  It’s also a fairly price toy, so I would only purchase this if you love internal vibrations and need a more challenging kegel exerciser to work with.
