Review: Lelo Oden

Lucky ducky that I am, I’m reviewing the new Lelo Oden.  FunWares sent me all three of the new SenseMotion so I’m reviewing each and then doing a comparison between the three.

The Run Down:

  • Toy Type:  Cock ring
  • Manufacturer:  Lelo
  • Includes:  Oden, remote, batteries for remote, charger, storage bag, and Insiginia broach
  • Materials:  Silicone and ABS Plastic
  • Size:  Oden – 3.75″ long, 1″ at the widest, 1″ wide hole (unstretched); Remote – 2.5? in diameter, 0.75? thick
  • Price:   $135.95
  • Pros:  Nice packaging with storage bag; Rechargeable; Silicone; Nice shape in theory; Good vibrations;  Easy to use;  SenseMotion modes are cool
  • Cons:  The gap between the body and tail is not right; Little more difficult to clean; Not the best shape in practice;  Can pop off (especially during girl-on-top); Looses connection easily
  • Intensity: Oden– 3/5; Remote – 3/5
  • Volume:  Oden – 2/5; Remote – 3.5/5
  • Overall Rating: 2.5/5
  • Recommended: Maybe, I like the SenseMotion, but it’s functionality as a cock ring was limited, if you really want to try it go for it, but if you’re unsure, don’t

The package

The packaging for the Oden is nearly identical to the Lyla that I reviewed previously, so I’m not really going to talk much about it.  The main difference in the packaging is that the faded image on the front is of the Oden instead of the Lyla.

Oden is a very interesting creature.  It’s designed to be a cock ring.  It has two main parts, besides the remote, the body and the ring tail.  The entire thing is about 3.75″ longer with the body being about 2″ long and 1″ wide.  The tail has an 1″ opening when it’s unstretched, but it does stretch quite a lot.  It also doesn’t wrap around entirely and there is a gap so I think it should be accommodating to most cocks.  Like the Lyla, it’s made from the same soft Silicone and Plastic.  The gap between where the body attaches to the tail though is slightly bigger so there was more gunk that got stuck in there, so cleaning is a bit more frustrating.  You can wash the whole thing with soap and water, toy cleaner, or wipes, but I would also suggest removing the tail and wiping off both sides.  You can also bleach it in between partners.  I would be careful if you wish to submerge it again because it doesn’t seem that it has as good of a seal of the Lyla.

The Oden and remote

The shape and idea behind of Oden is great in theory, however, I didn’t find it to be quite as great in use.  It does stretch and fit well on a cock, but since it doesn’t wrap all the way around I found it frequently popped off.  When it stayed in place though the vibrating part did actually hit my clit well.    I was worried that it would not stay on at all or stretch enough, but it actually stretches quite easily.  I think  that it would also work better in Missionary or Doggy, where there isn’t much of a grinding motion.  I tried it with a partner while I was on top and the pushing back of grinding would usually pop it off.  I don’t think the same issue would come up with another position.  You can also easily rotate it to position the vibrating part to be where you want it.

As far as the vibrations and control, they are just the same as the Lyla and I’m lazy and don’t feel like typing it all again with different wording so just go check out my Lyla review.  The one thing I will say is since the Oden is black, the lights on both the Oden and the remote are not nearly as bright so you’ll want to double check them to make sure they’re off before you put them away.  Aside from that, there was also a bit of a connection issue with the Oden.  I had more trouble with Oden than Lyla because it’s going between too bodies which causes it to easily lose it’s connection.  It was quite frustrating because it during the middle of sex you don’t want to stop and try to get the connection going again.

Overall, I like the Lelo Oden, but it was a little frustrating.  The SenseMotion is really neat, but I had a lot of problems keeping a connection between the remote and Oden.   It also seemed to pop off easily when in girl-on-top position.  I do plan on playing with it more to see if there is a perfect way to use it.  It may work really well for some people and some positions, but if you’re really unsure about it, I would suggest going with something else.
