The cover

As soon as I got the book it reminded me of another book I reviewed for FunWares,  Pure Erotic Massage.  The covers both have similar erotic,  yet no nudity,  images on the covers and a similar look.  However,  when I looked, they are not from the same publisher or author so it’s just a coincidence I suppose.  The book itself is very small.  It’s only 5.27″ wide and 5″ tall and only a quarter of an inch thick.  You could easily tuck it away in a drawer or hide it behind some books on a shelf if you wanted.  The covers shows a fuzzy image of a naked man on top of a woman.  I think it’s a nice image and isn’t overly erotic or crude.  The back of the book has information on what the guild will help you learn and achieve and it also lists other books in the pocket book series (Foreplay,  Sexual Fantasies,  and Sex & Chocolate).  I really like the size of it.  It’s small and compact and while it wouldn’t fit in most of my pockets,  it’s just a nice little guide.

The Pocket Book of Sensational Orgasms has six chapters:    Introduction,  Arousal and Excitement,  Sensational Orgasms for Women,  Sensational Orgasms for Men, Simultaneous Orgasms,  Conclusion or Climax.  Each chapter has it’s own little intro that talks about that section and what you will learn in it.  Each set of pages is then a different topic in the section along with a corresponding image.  The images are very tasteful and erotic and there is very little nudity.  In fact,  the only nudity are a few nipples here and there.  I don’t think the images will offend anyone.

Inside the book

Each section has between 5-11 topics and are a quick one to two page blurb of information.  The Introduction section covers the importance of orgasm and explains how men and women orgasm differently.  The Arousal and Excitement chapter has information on setting the mood, erogenous zones, foreplay, mutual masturbation, oral sex, lovemaking, and fantasies.  The Sensational Orgasms for Women and Men are similar sections and cover different methods to reach orgasm,  alone and with a partner,  as well as the topic of multiple orgasms for both sexes.  The Simultaneous Orgasms chapter talks about ways to orgasm together and includes a few sexual positions.  The information in all the sections is very basic and brief,  but I do feel it is a very good overview.  The only thing I wish it would include is to suggest using sex toys.  I think this would be a good book to have it as a suggestion because it would allow ‘vanilla’  couples to see sex toys as normal and not something they should avoid.

The only thing some people may not like about this book is that it is geared more towards heterosexual couples.  The couples in the images are all heterosexual couple and a few times it does also say the man should do something to a woman.  It does often refer to “partners in a stable, loving,  and committed relationship”, so I think all types of couples will be able to use this book.  I did find it cheesy that it constantly refers to sex as “lovemaking”,  I just find the term cheesy.

Overall, I think the Pocket Book of Sensational Orgasms is a nice little book.  It covers a lot of basic information and is a good little guide.  I think it’s a great book to share with a partner to further increase your pleasure and explore each other more.  While it is more geared toward heterosexual couples,  I think couples of all orientations will find it useful.  The images in the book are also sensually erotic but not intimidating so I don’t think it will scare anyone off.  The book is really geared toward couples looking to explore a romantic style of love making to reach sensational orgasms.
