Review: Serenity Massage Lotion

I’m sure I’ve mentioned how bad of a reviewer I’ve been… I do feel horrible about it but nothing I can really do about it besides getting caught up and such.  Today I’m going to review a product from Pure Romance from the consultant Elizabeth Tally.  She was kind enough to send me the Serenity Aromatherapy Massage Lotion to review many many months ago.

The tube of lotion

The Serenity Massage Lotion comes in a 4 ounce tube, much like other lubes and such.    The tube is a light green and it has the Pure Romance logo at the top and says “Serenity Aromatherapy Massage Lotion” along with the scent.  The scent I received is the cucumber lime.  The back of the tube hast a small blurb about the product, directions, and the ingredients.  The blurb says that it’s an anti-stress aromatherapy lotion to help you feel relaxed, confident, and sexy.

The lotion itself was a thicker lotion that spreads over the skin easily.  It’s more of a lotion than a massage product though, so you may find you need to reapply for very long massages.  However, for my typical back rub with it, it worked pretty well.  It left my skin soft and smooth and not too greasy like an oil.  I also didn’t have any trouble with it causing any pimples and the like.  The most interesting thing about this was the scent.  With cucumber lime, I expected a cool and slightly citruisy smell.  However, when I first opened it and smelt it it smelled like lime pinesol.  It’s not necessarily a bad scent, it was just… odd for a lotion.  I asked my roommate and several others and they all said if there were lime pinesol, this would be that scent.  When you use it though, it has more of a lime scent, and less pinesol.  In use it was much more of a pleasant scent.  However, I wouldn’t think of it as anti-stress ot made me feel relaxed, confident, and sexy.  It was just a scent.  It wasn’t too strong, but enough that you could smell it if someone is using it on your back.  I did manage to use up the entire bottle though.  However, a few things to note.  When it got down to the very last bit, it got a little gritty.  I also found out when I pulled the tube back out to write the review  that what was left in the tube has completely broken down and is completely watery.  I don’t think that I have left it anywhere too warm, so I’m not really sure why this happened.  You may want to keep that in mind and try to use it up quickly.

As you can see from above though, this massage lotion has a lot of ingredients.  Many of them are various oils, but it does contain some chemicals.  It has two parabens, but they are at the bottom of the list.  If you are only very slightly sensitive to them, you may not have trouble with this lotion in small amounts.    It does also have glycerin and two forms of silicone and a few other things.  I did not have any issues with this lotion, but my back is fairly non-sensitive.

Overall, I liked the Serenity Massage Lotion okay.  The scent was interesting, but they do also offer a pink berry scent, so if you’re not sure about a lime pinesol you may want to try that.  The only other gripe I have is that it is a little on the expensive side.  There wasn’t much about it that really set it apart from other massage lotions.  It is a bit better than just a generic lotion from a drug store.  The oils in the lotion make it better for massages and it doesn’t absorb quite as quickly.  To order, click this link and then go to shop and shop online.
