Review: System Jo Women H2O Warming

My friend True Pleasures sent me a bunch of stuff from System Jo to review since she did not realize they have parabens in them (and I’m sorry it’s taken me so long to get around to actually reviewing them!).  So today I’m going to review the System Jo for Women H2O Warming Lubricant, it’s a bit of a mouth full.

The Run Down:

  • Toy Type: Water-based Lube
  • Manufacturer: System Jo
  • Ingredients: Propyl Paraben, Methyl Paraben, Sodium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose, Pure Natural Vegetable Glycerin, Mentha Piperita, Purified Water
  • Size: 4 oz
  • Price: $14.99
  • Pros: Nice bottle; Easy to use pump top; Doesn’t get sticky or tacky; Thick and may be good for anal; No smell or taste; Long lasting
  • Cons: Contains parabens and glycerin; Doesn’t feel like the body’s natural lubrication; Leaves me greasy; No warming sensation
  • Overall Rating: 2/5
  • Recommended: Sure, if you don’t want a warming lubricant

The bottle

The Women’s Warming Lubricant comes in a tall 4 oz bottle.  I find the bottle to be attractive overall and is a nice size.  It’s not overly sexual and you can stash it in your bedside table since it has a cap over the pump top.  The top is very easy to use and I think this is my favorite type of top for lube.  It does say that it is a personal lubricant on the bottle.

As I said before, True Pleasures couldn’t use this because it has parabens in it, two different types actually.  Parabens can cause an allergic reaction in many people.  If you are unsure, do a spot test on your arm to see if you have any reaction before using it on more sensitive parts.  The one thing that really confused me about this lube is it’s said to be “formulated specially for Women”, but it contains glycerin.  While the glycerin is the 4th ingredient, it is still higher than water.  I haven’t had any problems, but I’ve never had any issues with glycerin in a lube causing a yeast infection.  If you know that you are sensitive to it, I’d suggest staying away from this lube.

The pump top

The lube itself appears to be very runny in the bottle but it actually comes out much thicker.  It’s not thick enough that it won’t run or drip a bit, but it is very easy to put where you want it to go.  It does last for a very long time, but to me it gives a buffered kind of feel and doesn’t feel like my own natural lubrication.  It does feel like some silicone lubes I have used though, and it does boast having a “silicone feel”.   Also, it doesn’t ever get sticky but if I wiped it off or rubbed it in I felt greasy.  It is definitely a lube I’d want to wash off.  Because of the thick buffered feel I think this would be an okay lube to use for anal play if you need a water-based lube to use with silicone toys, however, I have not tried it for anal play.  There is no smell at all to the lube and it only has a very very slight sweet taste.  I expected it would have a slightly minty taste and small since it has Menta Piperita in it, but it wasn’t noticable at all.

Now, this lube is advertised as a warming lubricant.  I tested it here and there and even on the underside of my forearm which is the most sensitive to warming effects and still felt nothing other than it warming up to my body temperature.  The Mentha is what should cause the warming effect but I just don’t think there’s a high enough concentration of it to be noticeable in this.

Overall, the System Jo Women’s H2O Warming Lube is just an average lube.  I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either.  I have other water based lubes that I prefer a lot more over this.  It also completely fails at being a warming lubricant.  Since it’s labeled as that I’d say just find something better and skip this one.  You can find this an many other System Jo products at Eden Fantasys.
