The package

The packaging is much like the Ki-Wi.  It’s a thick boxy with colors to match the Thumper itself.  The top opens like a flap to reveal the satin lined interior that the Thumper rests in.  There is also a window cut in the top that shows the toy as well.  The package comes with a plastic cover that fits over the toy and satin to protect it through the window.  It is a very pretty and cute package, but  it does take up a lot of space.  If that’s something that you don’t have a lot of, you can always toss it or re-purpose it.

The toy itself is the same size and general shape as the original Ki-wi, putting it about 5″ in total length and about 2″ in diameter.  The major difference is the tip.  Instead of a single tip, the Thumper has two ears.  Each ear is about 1.25″ long and 0.5″ in diameter.   The majority of the body of the toy is made from a shiny black ABS plastic.  A soft pink silicone covers the ears and part of the top.  I do like the feel of silicone, it’s very soft and velvety.  You probably need very little lube with it, but if you do I suggest using a water-based lube with it.  The ears are very flexible and can move in any direction, though they move the best when you push them apart.  There were two things I found particularly interesting about the toy.  One  was the weight of the toy.  Even without batteries, the base is fairly hefty.  The other is that the base has a angled portion that is flat so that the toy will actually sit up.

The Thumper

As far as vibration goes, I’d rate it about a medium level and more on the buzzy side, but it’s only powered by two AAA batteries.  There are three levels of solid vibration and 7 different patterns.  I didn’t find the vibrations particularly exciting, but it is fairly quite.  However, the two ears is what makes it interesting.  The is a motor housed in each ear and since both ears are flexible you can slide things in between the ears to have vibration on both sides.  I’ve found that it works very well for nipples and clits.  The motors always function at the same time, even on the various patterns, but there is a bit of an extra waving because things are never perfectly in-sync.  The controls are very easy to use.  There are two buttons on the base and either turn the toy on.  It is essentially a cycle of patterns and the top button cycles you through starting with the lowest steady vibration until you get through to the end and it turns back off.  The bottom button goes through the cycle in the opposite direction.  It will actually turn the toy on, but it starts on the last pattern.  As I mentioned earlier, it runs on two AAA batteries that are inserted by twisting off the base.  It’s easier to take apart and put back together and it even gives you a bit of adjust-ability.  The ears are slightly angled which allows you to put it back together with the ears pointing away from or towards the controls.  It’s only a very slight difference though.

Overall, the Ki-wi Thumper is not my favorite sex toy, but it does have some unique traits that I’ve seen in few other toys.  The vibrations are mild and buzzy, which may throw some people off, but there are two motors in the two.  I do like that the ears are flexible and it makes it great for teasing.  It is similar to the JimmyJane Form 2, but the ears don’t see as large which may be a benefit to some.  It’s also less expensive.  FunWares also carries the Black Tie Ki-Wi.
