Review: Treasure Trove Kit

I have tried a few Kama Sutra products before and enjoyed them, so I requested the Kama Sutra Treasure Trove Gift Box from Eden Fantasys to review.

The Run Down:

kama sutra treasure trove gift box
The Gift Box
Now online it’s called a gift ‘tin’ but clearly it did not come in a tin.  My items came in a small square box that is very sturdy.  It’s a fairly discreet box and has a very pretty design to it.  On the front it lists the contents of the box and the back tells you a little about the it and lists the contents again.  You can find the ingredients to each product on the bottom of the box and it says that all of the products are latex safe, dermatologist tested, hypoallergenic, and stain free.  All of those are great, especially the stain free.  I requested the “Raspberry Kiss” kit, so everything is raspberry flavored and reddish.  We all know how red loves to stain things.  When you receive the kit, all of the items are nestled in crinkled paper.  Now onto the items!

kama sutra oil of love

Oil of Love

Oil of Love:

  • Ingredients: Glycerin, Propylene Glycol, Water, Sucrose, Citric Acid, Sodium Saccharine, Flavor, Yellow 6, Red 40, Blue 1
  • Size: 4 oz
  • Price: $19.99
  • Pros: Cute and discreet bottle; Oil free and latex safe;
  • Cons: Cork can leak
  • Overall Rating: 3/5
  • Recommended: Yes

The Oil of Love comes in a cute little glass bottle with a cork stopper.  While it is cute, the cork is not as functional as other lids.  In fact, the liquid had leaked through the cork and plastic wrapping during transport and onto everything else in my kit when I got it.  Aside from that the bottle just said “Oil of Love Kama Sutra Raspberry Kiss” so you could probably leave it sitting out.

The name of the product causes some issues for me.  While it is called an oil, there is no oil in it at all which is a good and bad thing.  Oils typically offer more glide during a massage, but since this contains no oil it is also latex safe so it’s a bit of a trade off.  I know I hate giving or receiving a massage and then having to go wash up hands to put on a condom.  The Oil of Love does give a decent glide though and does not seem to become sticky, though you still may want to wash up afterwards.  It has a very light sweet scent and a very sweet taste.  While it’s supposed to be raspberry flavored, it mostly just tastes sweet to me.  It could also be used for oral sex on a male, but it contains a lot of glycerin so I would not use it for an oral sex (or sex in general) lube for women.  It also seems to have a bit of a warming effect when you blow on it.

Overall, I love that the Oil of Love is a non-oil based massage product.  It has a nice sweet tasted for a kissable massage and you can get it in five other flavors.

kama sutra pleasure balm

Pleasure Balm

Pleasure Balm:

  • Ingredients: Water, Sucrose, Glycerin, Alcohol denat., Polysorbate 80, Flavor, Carbomer, Xanthan gum, Menthyl lactate, Potassium sorbate, Sodium hydroxide, Sodium saccharine, Red 40, Red 33, Yellow 5, Yellow 6
  • Size: 1.7 oz
  • Price: $13.99
  • Pros: Small discreet tube; Thick gel; Nice warming and tingling sensation
  • Cons: Not really a ‘balm’;  Contains sucrose and glycerin; Leaves a film on the skin and can be sticky; Awful taste
  • Overall Rating: 2/5
  • Recommended: Yes, if you don’t mind the taste

I love products that add a new sensation to masturbation and partner play, especially when it can be used for oral, so I had be dying to try the Pleasure Balm.  It comes in a small tube and is semi discreet.  It does say “Pleasure Balm” and “Stimulating Gel” but it’s a small tube you could store in the bedside table or just keep in the nice box the Treasure Trove Kit comes in.

Since this product is called a ‘balm’, I expected it to more of a cream or even waxy.  It is really a gel, which it does say it’s a stimulating gel, so I can’t hold that against it.  The gel itself is translucent magenta and is fairly thick.  It’s very easy to put where you want it to go.  The only down side is that if it dries on your skin it does leave a bit of a film and can be a tad sticky.  It also has a sucrose and glycerin so it should not be used in the vagina.  As far as the sensation goes, I did get a noticeable tingling and warming sensation that I enjoyed.  For me it was more of a warming sensation, which I usually don’t like, but combined with the tingling, it was very nice.  I didn’t notice how long it lasted, though it did seem a little short lived.

The Pleasure Balm is the Raspberry Kiss flavor, which is my least favorite part about the product.  The first thing I did when I opened the bottle was taste it.  I expected a sweet fruity flavor but what I got was reminiscent of the Nyquil I’ve been taking during my plague.  I suppose I should have taken into account the ‘tingling’ part, which leaves this fruity gel tasting like cough syrup.  I couldn’t stand to lick this off a partner, though someone may like the taste.  The good news it is does come in Strawberry, Tangerine, and Mint.  The best would probably be the mint, as that would go along with the ‘tingling flavor’.

Overall, I enjoy the sensation of the Pleasure Balm, but the taste is definitely something to be improved.

kama sutra honey dust

Honey Dust

Honey Dust:

  • Ingredients: Corn Starch, Natural Honey, Fructose, Honeysuckle
  • Size: 8 oz
  • Price: $25.99
  • Pros:
  • Cons:
  • Overall Rating: 3/5
  • Recommended: Yes

The Honey Dust comes in a large raspberry colored satin drawstring bag.  Don’t worry, the actual powder is in a plastic bag.  It also comes with a feather applicator.  I don’t like to use the feather as an applicator, it just doesn’t seem to be effective.  The applicator is can be used as a tickler for sensation play, but I would prefer a cute little powder puff.

The powder itself is a light pink.  It looks and feels like baby powder, or corn starch since that is it’s base.   It brushes onto the same as powder and isn’t sticky or tacky.  It can then be licked off and it does have a pleasant sweet and fruity taste.  The only issue I had is it does seem to dry out your tongue.  You do get a LOT, so don’t feel you need to be stingy with it.

Really, there isn’t that much to say about the Honey Dust.  It’s cute and tasty.

Overall, the Treasure Trove kit is nice and does save you nearly $20 bucks on all the products together, and you do get a nice keep sake box.  It’d be great to give as a gift to a friend or a lover to suggest a little fun.
