Review: Vivace Lace Teddy

I really love the look of teddy style lingerie.  I’m not sure why, I just think it looks hot.  I was excited when The Intimacy Book offered to send me the Vivace Lace Teddy to review.

The Run Down:

  • Toy Type:  Lingerie
  • Manufacturer:  Elegant Moments
  • Materials:  100% Nylon
  • Size:  One-size or Queen-size
  • Price:  $15.35 or $17.54
  • Pros:  Not too itchy; Inexpensive
  • Cons:  Not proportioned correctly for a “queen” size; Gives major wedgies; Not that flattering; Too tight around the neck
  • Overall Rating: 2.5/5
  • Recommended: No, unless you’re sure it’d be proportioned well on you

The image on the package

For whatever reason, I thought I had grabbed a photo of the package, but I could never find it.  It was a very basic cardboard package that has an image of a model wearing it both on the front and back with two different views.  The image is the same as it appears on the product page, which I have to the left.    From the website, it does appear that they have different models for one size and queen size.  While compared to the one size model, the one to the left is plus size, but when you think about the average woman, I don’t think she’s plus sized at all.  Neither the package or the website gives any sizing information about this piece for either size.  I even looked on the manufacturer website and they had nothing about the one size or queen size items.

I was disappointed when I got this and opened it up.  I was expecting it to include the belt, like that was a part that was built into the outfit.  I didn’t expect the gloves and bracelets, but the belt looks like it belongs as part of the outfit.  Unfortunately, the only thing you get is the teddy.  Just one piece, that’s all.  The piece itself is100% nylon and is all lacy.  It has a soft cottony feel and I didn’t really find it too itchy.  It’s also a fairly stretchy material, which is where the major flaw comes in.  It seems fairly durable as I’ve gotten the hook that closes the neck caught in the lace several times and it hasn’t ripped.  The tag says you can machine wash it cold, but to not bleach, iron, dry clean, or tumble dry.

As far as the fit goes, I was again disappointed.  I feel like this would fit well, if I were 6 inches shorter and not plus sized.  The model on the package show that it is supposed to be a high rise legs, but only just over the hips.  On me, it comes up just above my waist, much higher than shown on the model.  I think this is mostly due to the fact that it is not long enough for me.  Now, I’m not a tall person, I’m only 5’4″, so this isn’t designed to fit the average height person.  Another thing this causes is major wedgies, especially if you try to lean forward.  On top of that, where it connects at the throat, it’s very tight.  I don’t like things around my throat, so this bothers me a lot.  In general, the material is fairly stretched and tight on me, so it’s not the most comfortable piece of lingerie I own.

Overall, the Vivace Lace Teddy was a bit of a disappointment.  It’s not really proportioned for a plus sized, or even an average sized person.  It wasn’t really flatter on me at all and without the belt, it just seems very basic and cheap.  It is an inexpensive piece, but I would only suggest going for it if you’re sure it will work on your body type.  The Intimacy Book caries both the one size and queen size of this, as well as other Vivace Lace products by Elegant Moments.

  • I think teddies are hot too, but I’m always worried that they won’t fit quite right. While I still think you make it look pretty good, the high-rise around the waist/hips does look rather awkward and uncomfortable.

  • I rarely have any luck with the “one size” lingerie myself. And I agree with you– this *should* have come with the belt, or they shouldn’t have used one in the advertising photo.
